Is it Worth Waiting for iPhone 11?
September 13, 2019As I’m sure you are all aware, on Tuesday Apple unveiled its new line of Smart Phones. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The phones start at $699, $999 and $1,099 USD, and I’m very surprised to see a sub $1000 offering from Apple. Over the years I haven’t been the biggest Apple fanboy, but I’ve given them props when they create a product worth the price tag. I’ve also called them out when they have tried to pull the wool over the eyes of everyone. With the upcoming release of the new phones, I wanted to discuss is it worth waiting for the iPhone 11, and should you buy it.
In today’s article, I will be going over all the main “new features” and how they compare to last year’s iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. I am over the moon with their decision to finally remove the roman numeral naming method, but there is a part of me that wanted to see Apple call these new phones the XI.
New Processor and Battery
Apple has added the new A13 bionic Chipset to the iPhone 11. The iPhone X line up had the A11 and A12 chipset. Apple claims that the new Chipset has a 20% faster CPU speed and 30% more power efficiency. That’s a decent bump in performance and should see a decent real-world benefit in battery life. Apple says that it will bring “hours” of extra battery life to the iPhone 11 line up. On stage Apple mentioned that it will also be the fastest GPU in any smartphone ever. That’s great, but the failed to mention why and how we will revisit this at a later date.
Battery sizes have been increased as well. iPhone 11 has a 3110 mAh, iPhone 11 Pro has a 3190 mAh, and the iPhone Pro Max has a 3500 mAh battery. All those batteries are bigger than last year’s models, that coupled with the A13 bionic should see a big bump in battery life.

Apple
New Front and Rear Cameras – the Biggest Change
Apple has gone with a dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup on the iPhone 11 and a triple 12-megapixel camera set up on the Pro models. Rear cameras now include a wide-angle lens like most other mainstream manufacturers. With this new camera setup on the Pro Models I was expecting some level of “Pro” camera setting customization when it comes to shooting a photo, by all accounts, this doesn’t exist.
The front-facing camera has been upgraded to a single 12-megapixel shooter that is also capable of Slow Motion videos. These are welcomed additions over iPhone X, keeping in mind, the camera set up on the iPhone X was one of the best of any smartphone released in 2017.
The one con with this new camera is the ridiculous camera bump, its a two-level bump at that. Personally, it makes the camera look like it was a last-minute addition and I’m not a fan.

Apple
New Display
The iPhone 11 retains the same LCD display as the iPhone XR. The 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max have the same super OLED display as the XS and XS Max, but max brightness has been bumped up slightly. The change is ever so slight and not really that noticeable. Same display, same notch
Is it Worth Waiting for iPhone 11 Design?
The new phones still look exactly the same as the last generation, minus the new camera module. Apple claims a slight bump in durability, and Pro Max gets an increased water resistance rating. The iPhone 11 comes in six colors, Product(Red), black, white, yellow, green and purple. The Pro Models come in a matte finish of Gold, Space Gray, Silver, Midnight Green. I love the pro colors and the matte texture might help a fair bit with fingerprints.

My Thoughts on the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro
Apple hasn’t done anything crazy or groundbreaking with this refresh. I’m happy they moved away from the Roman Numeral naming, but I’m not a fan of the “Pro” label either. Think about it, what makes this phone a “Pro” phone, what features stand out to you that you can’t currently get on another flagship phone? go on, I’ll wait. The fact of the matter is, Pro products are supposed to be for the bleeding edge tech enthusiasts that need a little more out of their hardware. We need to wary of the Pro buzzword, and how manufacturers are tricking consumers into thinking their products are the best.
Apple Pre-Orders open in 6 hours and will be available from the 20.09.2019. Is it worth waiting for the iPhone 11?, I personally would be waiting for the 12. If you own any model iPhone X I would recommend you wait till the next generation. If you own an iPhone 8 or below and you have to have Apple, the entry-level iPhone 11 at $699 USD is great value. The Pro models of the 11 just make me angry.

It’s great to get such a phone. If you have enough money and especially if it will make you money. It is interesting that the best change is New Front and Rear Cameras. I think it’s great for photographers.Otherwise, what can I say? I personally can’t afford such a phone even if I want one.
Hi Carmen, These phones aren’t for everyone, to be honest, I am working on a more affordable phone review for this reason
Hi Marvin,
Apple introduced the latest iPhone models this year which is the hottest topic in the world of the smartphone industry! I love the way they created for the camera since the other competitors did a lot on this since 2018, and it’s nice to see Apple finally upgrade its camera set for the same competition.
I do wonder how the A13 chipset will make the battery last long or even make it more efficient since I see other Android flagships now come with at least 4,000mAh battery. The battery part is still the point I feel Apple is not generous for! Anyway, I love this post about iPhone 11, will definitely share with my friends who need the same information.
The other night, I was on chat with friends on Facebook on how to make my Vivo phone utilize the remaining 2GB in my SD card because the phone memory is running out of space and might be affecting some of the apps running on my phone. They said, there’s no other way but to discard the phone and buy something that’s high in built-in RAM.
Then, another friend told me that the reason he prefers to have iPhone over these Android phones is because, even though these Android phones are releasing newer units that are high in RAM, app developers also continue to develop new Android apps that will require higher RAM from the phone! He said, iPhone units are better because these problem that I am having right now is almost non-existent.
With this predicament, I think I got no choice but to switch to iPhone and wait for that iPhone 11 that you have mentioned here. You said that it will be available on 20.09.2019, so there’s no other way to have it earlier than that?
Thanks for this really nice and simple review. Recently we have seen the battle game for supremacy in the phone industry and these brands keep bringing a slightly different product for the previous ones. Basically, the most noticeable changes these people make is the battery strength, camera upgrade and RAM.
I have anxiously been waiting to see what the iPhone company would do next after u saw XR and its contemporaries. I must confess in not disappointed by these new phones because I wasn’t expecting anything more than they have given. Coming to the issue of making a Pro, nahhhh. For me it should have been given a different name, not Pro. My opinion, best regards.
At $699, the asking price for the iphone 11 is a really good deal. The pro models are like you said a fancy marketing spin to garner more profits from the uneducated consumer. I don’t like the design of the camera, but you are getting an amazing camera. The battery life extension is great, and I really like the colors. I am more of an Android user, but my wife is an Apple lover so this might be an excellent gift for her birthday. Thanks for your informative review.

I guess I will hang on to my iPhone SE a while longer. Also, I doubt that Apple would give me anything as a trade-in to upgrade to their iPhone 11. I am not part of the audience Apple is targeting. The prices are absurd. The prices almost require that a user by replacement insurance in case the phone is lost or stolen. I agree with your comment about the camera bump. The bump may be something that causes me to snag the camera on my pocket while taking it out. I assume the camera is small enough to fit in a pocket like my SE.
Excellent article on iPhone 11,this wonderful and sophisticated phone is awesome, the specification, great features, the camera capacity is excellent coupled with that battery capacity,I’ve always love smart phone, the production of this iphone 11 is amazing,I loved to get one and the price is good considering the functionalities, this product is awesome and fascinating, thank you for sharing this informative post.
Hey Marvin – Thanks for this informative post on the iphone. I was just wondering what was going to be the outstanding feature of the 11’s. I agree with what you wrote about the “pro” buzz word. I’m going to take your advice and wait on the 12. The differences aren’t significant enough to bother.
Thanks again!
