February 21, 2019 10 By Marvin

If you own an Xbox One you are probably aware that a while back Microsoft announced keyboard and mouse support. That support arrived on the November 2018 Xbox One update. At this point in time, only a few game developers are taking advantage of gaming keyboard and mouse for Xbox One.

The Games that currently support the use of Keyboard and Mouse are:

  • Fortnite
  • DayZ
  • Bomber Crew
  • Children of Morta
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Minion Master
  • Moonlighter
  • Strange Brigade
  • Warhammer: Vermintide 2
  • Vigor
  • Warface
  • Warframe
  • Wargroove
  • War Thunder
  • X-Morph Defense

Technically you can use any keyboard and mouse combination. There are manufacturers that have created Xbox One specific peripherals. So Let’s discuss a few options that are currently available.

Designed for Xbox – Razer Turret for Xbox One

Razer is the first company to jump on the bandwagon. They have worked directly with Microsoft to produce the Razer Turret. Razer is known for producing high-end gaming peripherals and gaming computers. This keyboard and mouse will be branded one of the first “Designed for Xbox” products. The Turret will be released in March and will cost $249 USD.

This keyboard and mouse is definitely a premium product. It comes with packed with Razers Chroma Lighting and Mechanical Switches. There is also a dedicated Xbox button to launch into the Dashboard. The Turret is also Wireless and connects via a single dongle to eliminate clutter.

This keyboard has a massive 40-hour battery life and a built-in wrist rest for those long gaming sessions. The mouse also gets the premium treatment, it has Razer mechanical mouse switches that are rated to 50 million clicks. It has an advanced optical 5G sensor and that means it is very quick and accurate. The mouse is ergonomically shaped also to assist with those long gaming sessions. There is also a retractable magnetic mouse pad on the right side of the keyboard.

All in all, the Razer Turret is a very well-built Keyboard and Mouse. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on it and give you a full-blown review. At a purchase price of $249 USD, it isn’t cheap, but it looks like it will be worth every cent

Budget Friendly – Cooler Master MasterSet MS120

Sticking with the keyboard and mouse combination, the Cooler Master MasterSet MS120 is for gamers on a budget. It comes in at $87.76 USD, sub $100 territory.

You won’t get mechanical switches, but you do get “Cooler Master Hybrid Mem-Chanical Switches”. For those of you that aren’t high-end Mechanical Keyboard aficionados, these switches get the job done. They are tactile and have a satisfying click.

You get three-zone RGB lighting for that gaming look and this carries over to the mouse as well. The mouse isn’t the greatest but you aren’t expecting that at this price point.

That’s pretty much it, it’s a wired keyboard and mouse combo that delivers a great experience for those that aren’t looking to break the bank. It is easily one of the best sub $100 keyboard and mouse combos you can buy.

Silent Gaming – Logitech G613

I assume most console gamers, game on their couches. I personally don’t, but everyone is different. If you do game on your couch and you want to use a wireless keyboard, the Logitech G613 is the mechanical option that won’t keep up everyone in the house during those late night sessions. Coming in at $83.99 USD, the G613 is another solid sub $100 option.

This keyboard has Romer-G mechanical switches, they are quieter than the more respected Cherry MX switches. They have a 70 million click life, making this keyboard extremely durable. Unfortunately, there is no backlighting on the main keyboard, only the media, and special keys.

Battery life is very good. It takes two AA batteries that should last up to 18 months. This keyboard does have a super fast “Lightspeed” wireless connectivity that boasts a 1ms response time. You can toggle this feature On/Off to conserve battery life.

The Logitech G613 is a great alternative for those that are looking to game, and not wake up everyone in the house during those late night sessions.

There is also a wireless mouse that goes hand in hand with the G613. The Logitech G603, you can pick this mouse up on Amazon for as low as $54.99 US. It will complement the G613 as it also comes with Lightspeed wireless connectivity
