Father’s Day Gift Ideas | Tech GiftsAugust 30, 2019
Father’s Day is just around the corner here in Australia, I thought I would put together a quick buyer guide for the Technology Buff Dad. If your Dad loves Tech you have come to the right place. Personally, I always struggle with what to get my parents on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, so I know how hard it can be sometimes. I feel that this holiday has always been about sentimental presents and nothing too extravagant/expensive. With that in mind, here are a few Father’s Day Gift Ideas that won’t break the bank.
Anker Wireless Charger
If your dad owns a Samsung S8/9/10 or iPhone 8/X/XR and he doesn’t have a wireless charger, this should be your go to gift. Wireless chargers have come a long way from when they first hit the scene, they now support fast charging on certain devices, and charge at a very similar speed to a wired connection. Samsungs will have 10W fast charging and iPhones will have 5W boost charging. The Anker Wireless Charger also supports charging through cases, and you can switch between Portrait and Landscape mode.
If your dad was born in the 60s, and want you want him to feel like he is in the future, this is the way to go.
Does your dad have a man cave or study? if he does, Philips Hue will be a great addition. Once you experience Philips Hue or any smart lights, its hard to live without them. Light can affect mood in a major way, whether its a Red Hue helping you focus up in gaming sessions or a soft Blue Hue to help you relax while watching a movie. Smart Lights add an extra layer of drama to any set up, and I guarantee you your Dad has looked at them but always decided against them for one reason or another.
I did a full write up about smartifying your home a few weeks ago, I mentioned a few other Smart Lights in that article as well. Check it out at https://mobilemarv.com/how-to-smart-home
Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo
It may look like I’m sponsored by Anker but I promise you I’m not. Anker have always made some of the more reliable technology on the market, the Soundcore Liberty Neo is no exception. If your dad is anything like mine, he still rocks the headphones that came in the box with his phone. You can introduce your dad to a whole new ultra mobile way of listening to music.
Once you experience true wireless earbuds it’s hard to go back to the wired type. These aren’t audiophile level audio quality but are good enough for the average listener, and a fair improvement over stock earbuds. You will get 3 hours out of a charge and an extra 9 hours in the charge case.
I promise you this will be the most expensive item on this list. If you have a couple of siblings, this would be the item to split the cost on. Boys love their toys, and Dads are just boys with more responsibility. Drones have become increasingly popular over the last few years, and in a lot of circles are seen as an extravagant hobby.
The DJI Spark is DJI’s entry level drone for the casual/wannabe Drone Pilot. The Spark is the perfect drone for your Dad to learn on and could be the catalyst to him getting a new expensive hobby, that im sure Mum will love. The pack mentioned below includes everything you need to get started. Surprisingly the Spark is a very capable drone, it has Top speed of 31 mph in sport mode, and up to 16 minutes flying time.
If you have a couple siblings that can chip in, get this!!
Innens Qi Wireless Charger and Power Bank
When I first saw this I actually ordered myself one. Its a great idea, its a Travel Adapter, Qi Wireless Charger, and 6700mAh Power Bank. This thing oozes cool in my opinion. If your Dad is always traveling for work chances are he uses at least one of the functions included in the Innens Qi Wireless Charger and Power Bank, if he has a Macbook, it will also charge that.
I know when I travel I like to travel with the least amount of stuff possible. I hate traveling with 3 different chargers for all my devices and potentially losing stuff. This is a great gift for the traveling business man.
Fire TV Stick 4K
This is a cheeky Father’s Day present that can benefit the whole family. If your Dad still owns a dumb TV, the Fire TV Stick is a great upgrade, if that TV is 4K and dumb, its a better upgrade. You can get a non 4K version, but getting the 4K version allows for future TV upgrades. Take my word for it, I have the non 4K version and have just upgraded to a 4K TV (hand on head).
The Fire TV Stick can turn your dumb TV smart and allow it to stream Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and various other streaming apps. You can interact with it through Alexa, and if your Dad already owns and Amazon Echo device it will integrate with that network.
If you have a tech savvy Dad then any one of the Father’s Day Gift Ideas I mentioned above will impress. The only one that will break the bank will be the Drone, but as recommended, get your sibling or Mum to chip in to make it reasonable. Remember, Father’s Day isn’t about expensive gifts or money, its about showing appreciation to all the great Dads out there that are good role models, Fathers and Husbands.
