Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One

In today’s article, I will be discussing the Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One. I may be a bit biased here, I own an Xbox One and I love it. I dunno if you guys know this or not, but I’m a big gaming nerd. For as long as I can remember I have had a gaming console in my life. Even as a child in South Africa my Dad got my brothers and I a Sega Megadrive. Since that day I have been hooked, I have owned a Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast (Epic), PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In my opinion, out of all the consoles I have owned, the Xbox One has the best audio output, it has support for Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic (I will go more in-depth on Dolby Atmos in another article but essentially it allows sound to be represented in a 3D space, IE above you and around you (typical high-end cinema audio)). To get the best and most immersive experience you need to be gaming with a headset.

Some headsets listed below will have support for PS4, PC and Switch but all the Headsets will be compatible with Xbox One 🙂

Save $70 or $100 on select Xbox One Consoles

Best Overall – Razer Kraken Pro V2

Best Gaming Headset for Xbox OneIf you have been a gamer for a while no doubt you have heard of Razer, they make gamer-focused Computers, Mobiles, and Peripherals that are usually well-made and well-received.

The Razer Kraken Pro V2 does not disappoint, made out of bauxite aluminum and they are light and comfortable. The headband is flexible and extremely durable, coupled with the leatherette ear cups that have hidden indented channels for eyewear users, this makes for a very economical experience and users are reporting 4-5 hour gaming sessions with no issues.

When it comes to in-game sound quality the Kraken Pro V2 doesn’t disappoint, with custom-tuned 50 mm drivers you receive a rich and diverse soundstage that is only enhanced by Xbox Ones Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos. The only reported drawback is that because these are tuned specifically with gaming in mind, other activities like listening to straight music do suffer a little but this is expected, it is a gaming headset. You will also find a retractable unidirectional Mic that provides clear audio chat and the convenience of retracting it out of the way when solo gaming. These are a wired headset and provide inline controls for muting and volume.

Whether you are a casual gamer or hardcore enthusiast the Razer Kraken Prov V2 is an all-around performer and great investment. It’s in the running for the Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One.

Best Sound Quality – Sennheiser GSP 300

Best Gaming Headset for Xbox OneSennheiser isn’t a well-known brand when it comes to the gaming community, but if you are an audiophile, Sennheiser is one of the best and has over 70 years of rich history and experience. They are known for making high-end headphones with the sole purpose of getting the most out of your music. The GSP 300 is their first successful entry into the gaming space and has become one of Amazon’s bestsellers.

The build quality is top-notch even though it is predominantly made from plastic, it is very light and the split headband makes for even distribution of weight and increased comfortability. The GSP 300 comes fitted with XL memory foam ear cups that provide excellent ambient noise isolation.

The sound is the main feature on this headset, with closed-back design and 50 mm drivers Sennheiser knocks this category out of the park. You get pin drop clarity and a punchy bass experience, you will not be disappointed. There is a noise-canceling mic on a boom arm that can be muted when raised and provides broadcast clarity communication.

At his price point, you will struggle to find a better sounding headset. I would define the Sennheiser GSP 300 as a premium entry-level headset with a class-leading sound.

Best Wireless – Astro A50 Gaming Headset

Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One
There is nothing more annoying than cables, in my opinion, everything is better without cables and most high-end tech is heading that way or is already wireless. The Astro A50 is an absolute beast of a headset, from its looks to its performance it screams “Gamer”. Astro creates some of the more precise and hardcore gaming-focused headsets on the market which demand a premium and the A50 is no different.

Quality materials have been used to create this headset and at 1.8lbs you definitely feel the quality. When you first look at this headset you are either going to love it or hate it, I personally love it, but only because of its edgy gamer look. The ear cups on these are massive and cover the entire ear to create a really good isolated seal that doesn’t apply much if any pressure around the ears, making it perfect for the Glasses wear people out there. One interesting feature is its compatibility with mod kits from Astro, specifically new ear cushions you can get that vastly improve the noise isolation.

Astro claims you can get up to 15 hours of battery but most reviews have it at a real-world figure of 12 – 13, It comes with a handy charge dock called the Astro Base Station, you just place the headset on after and they charge via magnets. The base station also has indicators for battery life and charge status, it also has various input and out ports to add game capture devices or overlay audio while you play.+

Probably one of the best advantages of having a good headset is a competitive advantage. The A50 comes with Dolby 7.1. Couple that with Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos you create a virtual cockpit of sound that completely transports you into the game. I’m a big audiophile and these are shockingly good. On the A50 you get a precision Mic with a simple flip to mute functionality that provides crystal clear voice chat. You also get a Game: Voice Balance switch to adjust the ratio of game audio to voice chat.

Not only is the A50 the Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One, but it’s also the most premium headset on my list today. If you are a serious gamer or streamer then you probably have one. If you are a casual gamer think of this headset an investment in your hobby. Either way, you will not be disappointed

I have done my best to break down the Best Gaming Headset for Xbox One. If you are looking for your first headset or upgrade to your existing headset, you always need to weigh up the pros and cons. No headset is perfect, and when it comes to audio and headsets price really does matter, what you pay for is what you get. At the high end its an investment, and at the low end, it’s a be a temporary fix.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are around the corner so keep an eye out on bargains for the above

A few questions you need to ask yourself before you purchase one of these headsets above –

  • How many hours a week do I play Xbox One?

  • Do I already have a decent headset?
  • Will any of the above increase my gaming experience?
